Teaching itself has taught me most about teaching. However, at UC San Diego I took advantage of an extraordinary program of pedagogical education called Teaching & Learning at the College Level. The course instructs instructors on best practices using evidence-based research from cognitive science, psychology, social science, and education. Many of the classroom practices mentioned in my teaching statement are rooted in this program.
